Pianist Ana Glig will be joined by Monika Woods (clarinet), Jared Mcmurray (piano) and James Rosenblum (piano) in a charity concert benefiting the Truro-based non-profit organization American Friends of Georgia (AFG). Founded in 1994, AFG is dedicated to improving the lives and futures of the Republic of Georgia's most vulnerable citizens, with a special focus on the homeless, orphans, former street children, ill elderly and individuals with disabilities. AFG provides funding and operational support to a wide range of projects, including residential communities, educational programs, vocational training, art therapy and hospice care. AFG also works to educate and empower Georgian youth to make a difference in their country through social activism, philanthropy and preservation of their cultural heritage. Ana Glig (aka Ana Gligvashvili) is an award-winning Georgian-American pianist, praised by Musical America for her ability to "capture hearts." Glig has performed as an orchestra soloist with Rishon LeZion and Evgeni Mikeladze Symphonic Orchestras in Israel and Georgia. She was also the recipient of an Alfred Cortot Prize for Best Interpretation of Romantic Music at the Tbilisi International Piano Competition. Her playing has been noticed for sensitivity, depth of interpretation and ability to connect music through various thematic concepts and art media. Glig performs frequently throughout Cape Cod. Glig recently released an album entitled Reminiscences. Based on the concept of homesickness, ‘Reminiscences' is inspired by Georgian and Western European music, and serves as her artistic endeavor to portray the world of an immigrant, with underlying themes of separation, growth and longing for motherland.
